Dr. Michael Garrett’s (Incoming Cell and Molecular Biology Chair) NIH COBRE Phase I grant was awarded $11.5M to form the Molecular Center of Health and Disease at UMMC, effective 3/6/2023- 2/29/2028: Hao Mei (Department of Data Science) is listed as Director/PI for Core C-Research Computing, Bioinformatics, and Biostatistics at 10% (NIH Reporter link). Biostatistics is a Sub-Core under Core C. Seth Lirette (Department of Data Science) is also at 10% and will be the Biostatistics lead. Additional Department of Data Science faculty members Hamidreza Moradi and Rajesh Talluri are at 5% and will serve as data analysts.
Dr. Benjamin Walker - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention via Mississippi State Department of Health (3/10/2023 – 7/31/2023). “Data Support for MSDH CORE SIPP Program.” Role: Subcontract PI.
Dr. Brian Williams received funding for a new HRSA Preventive Medicine training grant, totaling almost $1.6 million over 4 years.
Dr. Caroline Compretta received notice that her Mississippi Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) grant program to implement community activities that combat COVID-19 was renewed for another year, with a budget of approximately $1.8 million.
